Just finished work on this commercial for R D I. The location was an old steel mill that had been converted into what is now Cincinnati Fitness Boxing. It had all the right elements—7,000 square feet of exposed brick, wood beams, high ceilings (tall enough for the trains to roll into the building when it was a steel mill), a boxing ring, and every other conceivable piece of boxing workout gear imaginable.

We thought we were the smartest kids in the class when we discovered this hidden treasure of a location. But, it turned out that we weren’t the first crew to plant our flag and make magic, here. But hey, if it was good enough for a Mickey Rourke film, then we must have been onto something when we made the choice to shoot our piece, here, too.

The location, along with a great crew, and a patient and tireless boxer, combined to make a flawless shoot. We’re really proud of the way it turned out. Jump over to my portfolio and have a look.

BACK IN BLACKThe site is back with an all new design. Lots of new information has been added, as well as some of the latest work that I’ve been doing. It’s a new year, so we’ve got a new look. As the saying goes, “kick the tires, and give it a spin”.

Scott DenneyThe documentary places the viewer right inside the brew houses, tap rooms, and work areas of the new Queen City craft breweries. “These guys all take great pride in their work, and I wanted to give the viewer the feeling of ‘being there’ with them,” Denney explains. “I didn’t want the usual, flat TV documentary look you know, the usual, repetitive wide shots interspersed with headshots, all looking like basic video. I wanted a more cinematic look, but one that was still realistic. In a lot of these areas, there were dark shadows, so it was a challenge to translate that visibly to the screen, without losing the reality of what it’s really like.”

WSTR EncoreIf you find yourself nursing a Saturday morning hangover, caused by a Friday night of drinking bad, cheap beer, here’s my cure:

Step 1 – Take two Advil (or four, depending on the severity of your headache).

Step 2 – Get a cup of strong coffee (I recommend a double espresso or French press, if you’ve got it).

Step 3 – Tune into the encore broadcast of my documentary, Queen City Craft, Hometown Brewing, this Saturday, at 11:30AM on WSTR.

The show may not cure your hangover, but by the end, you’ll understand how you got one, and better yet, you’ll know how to avoid getting another (hint: quit drinking cheap, tasteless beer, and drink fresh, locally made, craft beer, instead).

I’ve posted a copy of the documentary, “Queen City Craft, Hometown Brewing”. It’s been released into the wild, and will run 4 more times, throughout the next month, but if you don’t have a chance to tune in, you can always catch it, here.
